Driveway Ideas
Concrete Driveways
•
Concrete styles include standard gray, colored, exposed aggregate , scored, textured, stamped, and salt
finish.
•
Colored concrete is an option some of our customers consider, but beware that it is usually stained by
black wheel vehicle tires.
•
Using just concrete, you can create a curved strip of exposed aggregate across the driveway to add a dash
of style. Alternatively you can put colored strip or pathway of colored concrete in a driveway. Your own
designs can also be incorporated.
•
You can significantly dress up a concrete driveway by adding elements of other driveway blocks below
such as highlights with bricks or pavers.
•
Spray Deck is an option that involves cement and epoxy with white Portland, followed by painting.
•
For all concrete installations, soil tamping is essential, it must be formed correctly, and an effective
drainage plan with sloping must be considered.
Paver Driveways
•
Pavers are a concrete block that come in many shapes and colors. Paver driveways look very nice and
elegant. You may experience some slight damage from heavy vehicles, so always keep extra pavers for
repair. Fortunately paver driveways are easy to repair.
•
Pavers can be inserted into concrete driveways for borders, edging, and designs.
Brick Driveways
•
Brick is a strong material for driveways and comes in many colors but usually a small number of shapes.

Cobblestone Driveways
•
We have produced cobblestone driveways that are composed of larger stones embedded in cement. These
produce a strong driveway with a good old-fashioned look.
Flagstone
•
Flagstone is not appropriate for driveways because it cannot survive the weight of vehicles.
Gravel Driveways
•
Gravel is sometimes used in rural areas or where required by covenant. Crushed gravel is the best choice
because of its rough surfaces that lock together and hold in place. Crusher-fine is a good material that
packs harder over time. Round gravel doesn’t work well for driveways because it moves and sinks into the
soil.

Driveways, Walkways, Sidewalks
Most driveways we see are regular gray concrete for a good reason - it is easy and fairly inexpensive; however, it doesn’t stand out and
convey your personality or add to the uniqueness of your home. Because these structures will last a long time, it is worth investing a bit
more to make sure they significantly improve the value and functionality of your home. See our Hardscaping Ideas page for other
hardscape elements your walkways and driveways might interact with in your yard.
